Frequently asked questions
Short answers about Terrawell®. Missing something? Ask us.
What is Terrawell®?
Terrawell® is a soil activator made with lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus plantarum). It comes in two forms: Terrawell® Classic, a liquid concentrate, and Terrawell® Granulate, ready-to-use granules.
Where can I buy Terrawell®?
Terrawell® is not yet available to order online. Terrawell® Classic comes first: we are preparing to ship it to Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas. Terrawell® Granulate will follow. Leave your email on a product page and we will tell you when you can order. Businesses can request a quote now.
How do I apply Terrawell® Classic?
Mix it with clean, non-chlorinated water in a clean container. Apply it to moist soil, ideally before rain or on an overcast day, and avoid hot, sunny conditions. Use a watering can or irrigation, not a fine mist. Use opened containers completely.
How do I apply Terrawell® Granulate?
Apply it directly to the soil or into planting holes. Never apply it to dry soil: apply before rain, or water it in with chlorine-free water in dry weather. After spot application, cover the spot with a little soil or mulch.
How much do I need?
Application rates for US customers will be published with the US product label. For golf courses, sports fields and larger projects, contact us and we will plan it with you.
Where can I use it?
On lawns, in flower beds and vegetable gardens, around trees and shrubs, on sports turf and golf courses, and on farmland.
How should I store it?
Store Terrawell® Classic dark, cool and frost-free. Store Terrawell® Granulate in a cool place, out of direct sunlight.
Is Terrawell® reviewed by the USDA?
USDA APHIS Plant Protection and Quarantine has determined that the Lactobacillus strains in Terrawell® (Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus plantarum) are not known to be plant pests (ref. A-00994964, September 2026). This means no USDA plant-pest permit is needed to import them. It is not a product approval or endorsement.
Where does Terrawell® come from?
Terrawell® was developed in Switzerland by biodiver.city GmbH. Biodivercity USA LLC in Larkspur, Colorado is the US manufacturer and distributor.
Do you work with golf courses, cities and landscapers?
Yes. We prepare pilots and quotes for golf courses, sports fields, landscaping and lawn-care companies, cities, parks and farms.
